SARA's Main Launch Site at TIMPA |
The SARA launch site is on N. Reservation Road, between Manville Road and Mile Wide Road, 1/2 mile north of where the Tucson International Modelplex Park Association (TIMPA) flies remote-controlled airplanes. We launch on the north side of the TIMPA property; please use the entry gate off of Reservation Road, located about 1/2 mile to the north of the TIMPA gate. This location is only open for model rocket flights during an official SARA launch, when an adult SARA board member is present. Bring a lawn chair for best viewing. There is very limited shade at the launch sites, so bring a hat and sunscreen, and please leave pets at home. SARA's 2024 Launch Schedule PDF is available. RV Notice
RVs over 24 feet should travel West from Tucson on Ajo Way, then North on Sandario Rd. to Manville Rd. West to Reservation Rd. South to the launch site. Both the Picture Rocks and Gates Pass routes are not recommended for RVs over 24 feet.
Waiver
Typically, SARA has FAA authorization to operate Class 2 high power rockets, to 4500' AGL, depending on the field and sky conditions at flight time.
Fees
There is a $10.00 per day Range Fee for adults who are not SARA members
